Marriage Notes for FRANCIS CURTIS and ELIZABETH ROBBINS:
[RansomCurtis.FTW]
The births of the first four children of Francis and Elizabeth are recorded in Ashford, the last of which was born in 1778. It was presumabley soon thereafter that they removed to Peru in Berkshire Co., MA, although the first mention of the family on the vital records of that town was in 1793.
Notes in the handwriting of Mrs. Lottie B. Morris (probably from about 1907) state that Francis and Elizabeth removed from Berkshire Hills, Bershire Co. to Middlebury, NY about 1802 or 3. She indicates that all the children (she lists a Delilah, but no Deliverance) came from Massachusetts about the same time except Sally, who married in MA and lived and died there.
Mrs. Martha Beardsley (1827-1912) stated, in a letter dated 7 June 1907 that:
Amasa and Calvin owned consecutive farms on east side of Oatka (Creek.) Comfort owned 2nd farm south of Amasa. Oliver with his father took a farm on west side of Oatka (Creek), which has later years been owned by Hezakiah Miller and heirs. Francis died there, do not remember to have seen him, but remember Grandmother.
Francis was a Congregationalist church member and apparently active as his will contains considerable prcatory language concerning his hopes for heavenly reward. The will was made on 14 Aug 1826and bequeaths one cow and all Francis' household furniture, beds, bedding and clothing to his wife Betsey. The remainder of his estate is given to his son Oliver Curtis on the condition that Oliver maintain and provide for Betsey during her natural life. Oliver Curtis to be Executor. Witnesses were Joseph Bisbey, Thomas White and Zenas Owen. The will was proved on 4 Dec. 1828.

The following description of the N. P. Curtis fiftieth wedding aniverary party was transcribed from a scanned image of the original newspaper clipping. This was provided to me by Donna Duncan on 03-MAR-2000.
FIFTY YEARS OF HAPPY WEDDED LIFE
Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Curtis Celebrated
Golden Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson P. Curtis of Oak steet, were reminded Tuesday by the home coming of their children, grandchildren and friends that they had reached the fiftieth year of wedded life. The surprise of their friends who brought an ample supply of substantials and delicacies was complete. Rev. H. M. Conaway, D. D., was summoned and at 8 o'clock Miss. E. Eirene Gregg of Kane, played Lohengrin's wedding march while Mr. and Mrs. Curtis attended by their son, F. N. Curtis of Jamestown, and Mrs. Anna Miller of North Warren, entered the room, and while Miss Gregg sweetly rendered Nevin's "Love Song", the marriage vows were solemnly renewed by the beautiful ring service, the bride receiving a ring set with opal. She wore the same silk crepe shawl which she had worn at the original wedding. Hearty congratulations for their years of wedded life and earnest wishes for the future were received from the friends present. Various presents were left as reminders of the good will of the guests. After the ceremony an elegant dinner was served.

VanVleck of Jamestown, and Mrs. Willard Gregg of Kane, Pa.
The following friends were present: Miss Cora M. Curtis who resides with her parents; F. N. Curtis and wife and daughter; C. T. Curtis, wife and three children; Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Marriage Notes for WILSON CURTIS and SALLY ELDRIDGE:
[RansomCurtis.FTW]
At the 1850 census, Willington, he was listed as age 37, in the family of his parents. Also in the family was a Sarah H. Curtis, age 44, presumably his sister, and Mary, age 8. The relationship of the latter to the others is unknown to the Compiler [02]. Could she be a daughter of Wilson's by an early marriage?
There is a record of marriage [FC117, Willington, D:55] of Wilson H. Curtis to Sally Eldridge, both of Willington, on Feb. 12, 1852, the Rev. D. Bancroft officiating.
Listed in the 1870 census for Willington, Conn. are William [sic], age 57, farmer, and Sallie, age 57. "William" is probably a census- taker's error for "Wilson". The latter name does not appear in Willington in the census of that year.
Gravestone inscriptions in the Willington Hill Old Cemetery [FC056, LXVII:65] read: "Wilson W. Curtis died Aug. 10, 1890, age 77, Sally, his wife, died Feb. 13, 1887, aged 74".

[RansomCurtis.FTW]
From my mother's recollection there were two children, both girls.
Hi. Could anyone help me with this? I know there is a lot of Curtis information out there. I just need to link to it. I know back to Nelson Parker Curtis (b. August 28, 1839- d. July 1923). He married Tirzah Louisa Thompson (b. March 05, 1843- d. 1921) and had 4 children. I'm descended from their son Clyde Thompson Curtis (b. December 20, 1875-d. June 26, 1948). He married Evaline Leona Brownell (b.September 29, 1878- d.October 23, 1972) on April 08, 1897. I think that the family was from western Pennsylvania. Could anyone help me with information regarding their ancestors?
